Robo Copy - A Good Thing that Came with Vista

E-mail Print

Vista was not a well received OS. But like many things in life, Vista did have its bright spots. One of them is an awesome command line utility called "RoboCopy". RoboCopy has been around for a while. It was included with the 2003 server resource kit. Vista was the first desktop version of Windows to have RoboCopy included out of the box. RoboCopy is also included with all versions of Windows 7.

RoboCopy is going to replace the old DOS xcopy. RoboCopy can do some amazing things, like monitoring a selected path and then automatically backing it up as soon as changes are detected.

In future posts I will go into more detail about RoboCopy and explain how to use it to backup your hard drive.

When I was in the navy, the Chief of Naval Education and Training gave me the honor of being designated as a Master Training Specialist. In my tour of duty as an instructor I learned many valuable lessons about communicating with people. Those lessons are still with me today. I enjoy taking the extra time to explain to my clients what their choices, in a way that they can understand. This is important for them so that they know what they are getting for their money.

For the years after leaving the military I have been building long term relationships with clients who know they can trust me with their most personal information, and valuable information technology assets.
